Better Indoor Air Quality in Charlottesville

Banish pollutants to foster cleaner, healthier air inside your home. The World Health Organization and the EPA both say that household air pollution is a major concern. If you or anyone in your family has asthma, allergies or respiratory difficulties, you know how important healthy air is for maintaining their comfort and well-being. Clean, fresh air doesn’t have to be a luxury. Our indoor air quality experts can show you how. We have an extensive selection of products and strategies for eliminating airborne contaminants and drastically improving indoor air quality, also called IAQ.

Ventilation Systems

Most people look to their HVAC system for heating and air conditioning, but ventilation is equally important. Several ventilation-related factors influence the quality of the air inside your home. These include the integrity of the ductwork, how much air is delivered to each room and whether fresh air is brought in from outdoors. A whole-house ventilation system is ideal for exhausting stale air and replacing it with fresh outside air. Special components capture energy and use it to condition the air before it’s released. This improves comfort and efficiency and reduces undesirable odors. If certain rooms are always chilly or stuffy, balancing the ducts and air handlers can improve these issues.

Air Purifiers

A whole-house air purifier is the perfect product for those with serious air quality concerns. These systems are installed within your HVAC system and silently trap and kill pollen, mold spores and germs. While your system runs, the air is filtered up to eight times per hour. Air cleaners charge incoming particles, trap them in an ionized filter and use UV rays to disable the collected pathogens. Independent studies show that these state-of-the-art systems kill 99 percent of germs. With a filtration level of MERV 15, these air cleaners are the same quality as those used in hospitals and laboratories.

Source Control

Eliminating sources of indoor pollution is one of the most effective strategies for improving air quality, and no special equipment is required. Completing recommended HVAC maintenance is one way to target pollutants. During a tune-up, our service technicians will clean condensation drains and air handling components. When your air conditioner is running, it cools air below the dew point to remove humidity. This condensation is collected and drained. If the drainpipe is clogged by algae, the moisture backs up and enters your home. Humidity is responsible for all kinds of IAQ concerns, especially mold and dust mite activity.

If you’re concerned about allergens and pollutants, we have air quality specialists in Charlottesville and the surrounding area who can evaluate your home and identify trouble spots from the attic to the crawlspace. Finally, you can get excited about indoor air quality. Call W.E. Brown, Inc. today to request an in-home evaluation or to get an estimate on any of our top-rated IAQ products.
