The church where I work lost AC in the sanctuary after our brown out last week. I called in the morning and was thrilled to learn they'd expanded their hours due to expanded need. I thought they wouldn't be able to service us for a few days (first come, first served), but they arrived that evening! Jen was professional, polite and helpful. Travis was professional, thorough and didn't make me feel like an idiot when it was discovered that several "hidden" breakers had been flipped. Love these guys!
Dale is congenial, professional, and extremely efficient! He located a leak under my mother's house and had the pipe replaced and the leak fully repaired in less than an hour. Dale's knowledge and manner gave me complete confidence! I will not hesitate to recommend W.E. Brown!!!!!
Jonathan is always a pleasant and knowledgeable resource from WE Brown. He is meticulous in all his work, and takes time to test his findings in order to ensure maximum function. He also passed along information about a plumbing leak he found while checking my HVAC.
Erin is absolutely ALWAYS great on the phone! She is efficient and caring and makes scheduling a breeze!
This was my first experience with Daniel, and it was lovely. Honestly, he is such a sweetheart that I would almost manufacture plumbing problems just to have him come out. John, too, was lovely. He had actually been in my mother's house soon after it was built. They are consummate professionals, but just down-to-earth, friendly and great at their jobs. It gives me a great sense of security to have the Service Partners contract with W.E. Brown. I know that I am in good hands!
This organization is hands down the best with whom we have ever worked. They consistently perform at the highest level and never disappoint. Their willingness to go above and beyond responding to yesterday's SOS was awesome and we were grateful to have power restored prior to 8PM!!! A special thanks to Tana, Michael and Jessica for the excellent customer service.
We would not use W. E. Brown again. Clogged kitchen sink. 5 minutes with a toilet plunger temporarily resolved the blockage (which recurred soon after the "service" call). There followed a tutorial on venting drains to the indoor atmosphere, work that would take "about 2 hours" at an estimated cost of $285. A YouTube video provides excellent instructions for we DIYs with a demonstration that took about 7 minutes, installing a valve that cost about $30. Service call of about 20 minutes (including time in the truck recording on iPad) billed and paid at $175.00. One might assume that W. E. Brown plumbers work on commission. Dispatch and scheduling were very professional.
Professional, capable, courteous, and with deep local roots and knowledge. We’ve had lots of projects done by WE Brown - from small maintenance to installing an entirely new sewer line. They know what they are doing and are fair with pricing. They’ve earned my trust like no other plumbers in town have - we never have to worry about if they are just trying to sell us something that we don’t really need. They are in it for the long haul - exactly what I want from a plumber.
Everyone that I have worked with have been so pleasant and helped me with my air conditioning issues. Kerry is extremely knowledgeable and it was an absolute pleasure working with him. He got my problem fixed and it is very appreciated considering it was 95 degrees today and my ac unit is blowing cold air again!
Jennifer at the office and all of the many technicians who have come to my home have been amazing!! It's so hard to find people you can trust. Their work has been impeccable! Jennifer always kind and ready to help with scheduling and financing. they've helped me with HVAC and plumbing and repiping my whole home. Highly, highly recommend!
I needed a complete system replacement. The W.E. Brown crew arrived promptly and got right to work. Every aspect and component was taken care of with attention to detail. I periodically checked in on the work, and team members readily explained their progress and answered questions. Rusty, the crew chief, made sure my whole system, not just the parts being replaced was in top shape by the end of the job. The air filter and humidifier already in place were cleaned and back in working order. The WE Brown crew communicated well and made every effort to do the job right the first time.
I recently contacted W.E. Brown because our heat pump wasn't working. Erin called and informed us of someone coming to look at it. This was the afternoon just before Memorial Day weekend, so I just knew someone wouldn't come until after the weekend. Well, Travis and Jonathan came later that afternoon and found the problem. We have always been pleased with W.E. Brown and their employees. I highly recommend them.
Called by WE Brown offering a free HVAC inspection. Jonathan C was the technician. He was professional, thorough and knowledgeable. He explained what he was doing in a way I could understand. 1 item needed fixing that day, and his other recommendations were sent via email. I appreciate being able to know what was being done, what they recommended to fix and not being pushed into any unnecessary repairs or service plan. I will recommend WE Brown to others.
W.E. Brown office customer service staff handled all of our scheduling needs and questions throughout the process of installing our home generator and were a pleasure to work with. Electrician and apprentice doing the actual installation were highly professional and did an outstanding job. Overall we are extremely pleased and would highly recommend W.E. Brown for generator installation and service.
The WE Brown tech, Jonathan, was the single most knowledgeable, helpful, and detail oriented employee of any company in my home subcontractor rolodex. He came to my house for a full HVAC system operations screening. Not only did he take the time to explain the different components of the entire HVAC system, he drew diagrams, put labels on components for future maintenance, he updated the wiring configuration of my nest thermostat, he serviced the mini-split unit in a separate outbuilding, he went as far as to re-locate a hard-to-reach component in my furnace for future tech access and easy replacement should I ever need it. He took his time to do things correctly, focusing on ergonomic solutions and ease of maintenance for future techs (and homeowners). WE Brown, and Jonathan specifically, is the only person I ever want servicing my HVAC system. He was that good.
I had a lot of electrical work done by Michael Anders. He is incredibly good at what he does and I trust his work 100%. He worked tirelessly to complete our project and patiently answered all our questions. I am beyond happy with the results and 10/10 recommend him for any electrical work.
Jennifer was most helpful and courteous when I called for help with a plumbing problem. I was very pleasantly surprised when she told me someone would be available the next day. I explained that my problem would require an experienced plumber to evaluate the problem and come up with solutions. The following day Daniel arrived earlier than scheduled, but Jennifer had already called to see if that was OK. Daniel was just the person I needed -- personable, knowledgeable and respectful of my ideas -- even when I didn't know what I was talking about. He assessed the situation quickly but took the time to carefully review the possible solutions, each requiring parts that would need to be ordered. I had expected that, so it was not a problem. However, I am convinced that Daniel knows what he's doing and will be able to locate the appropriate parts to resolve the problem.
Matt Crawford was timely, courteous, professional, and patient. He went over each of his recommendations with our broken HVAC unit, explaining all our options thoroughly. Other companies in the past would be quick to upsell but not Matt. His honesty and genuine desire to help while actively listening makes him an incredible asset to the WE Brown team. Plus, I noticed that he had a letterhead from AHIP, so when I asked what his involvement was, I was pleased to hear about WE Brown’s commitment to the community.
Our business, The Inn at Monticello, has been using W. E. Brown's services for more than 12 years. They are professionals in plumbing, electrical and HVAC repairs and improvements. They are prompt, knowledgeable and efficient and charge reasonable rates for their work. We highly recommend them.
We didn't want to pay for the emergency fee when we discovered our sink leaking after business hours, but they had a tech at our home by 930am the next morning! Our job ended up being more complicated than anticipated, but Dale, our plumber, was knowledgeable, professional, and polite and didn't leave until the job was done. He even vacuumed my entire kitchen, explained the issue and what he did, and then answered other plumbing questions in our home. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or call again. Great service.
Encountered and early morning water leak. After an unpleasant experience with another company, I placed a call to WE Brown. Erin answered promptly and provided all of the details for the visit. Cody called me 5 minutes after speaking with Erin and within 30 minutes was at my door. He was courteous and professional and completed the repair efficiently. He also took a moment to show me a few additional items that I may want to be cautious of after the repair. Great customer service on both ends. Will definitely be using them again.
Both the gas and electrical guys were on time for the estimates. Gas line install came in higher than another bid. Co matched the quote. Generator was ordered and install of gas line set up. Both gas line and generator installed the same day even though install was to be next day. All done professionally. Follow up by office personnel was great. In my business, we deal with customer service daily and most companies have poor following up to our requests. Would definitely recommend W.E. Brown.
The whole experience from working with office to the work done by Justin and another young woman was great. They came to my house when they said they would be there. The office called to tell me they were enroute. They fixed the problem quickly. I have had contractors before and have had to chase them to come and then to finish their job. These people have never done that to me.
I had difficulty getting my radiators to come on. Sam W from W.E. Brown came this morning as requested by me and got the radiators working. He cleaned and reconditioned the boiler and checked throughout my old two story farmhouse to make all of the heat was working. He also installed a new filter that I had difficulty inserting properly. Sam W was efficient, courteous and professional. I highly recommend Sam W and W.E. Brown.
I had a water line from the meter to the house that was leaking. Originally it was going to be replaced but Cody found the leak and we agreed to have it repaired instead (about 25% of the cost to replace it and a lot less digging). Cody was very good and worked to ensure it was repaired and even corrected some issues with how the line was originally installed through the foundation. Communications from the office were timely and good. Jennifer was very helpful and nice. Overall very satisfied with the people and the work. I do think WE Brown was on the high side regarding cost and if you have time you should get estimates from other plumbers. Also, WE Brown offers no guarantees on their work when they repair a water line to your house. They do offer a one-year warranty on a replacements.
To have a broken toilet and be so happy with the result of the repair visit a great feat! I ended up getting a new toilet that very afternoon and was really happy with it. The plumber was so friendly and went through all the options with me thoroughly. He really knew what he was doing and did a great job.
My husband and I recently purchased an older home in Charlottesville. When we were having this house inspected, the home-inspector recommended that we replace the hot-water tank sooner rather than later due to its age (it's a 2005 tank). However, Dale, the plumber from W.E. Brown said we might be able to get a couple more years of service from our current hot-water tank since, currently, it's not leaking. "My motto is," he said, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." He also pointed out that, although it's true that gas hot-water heaters will usually begin to leak when it's time for them to be replaced, our current hot-water tank is in an unfinished basement, and there's nothing down there that needs to be protected from water. We're going to take Dale's old-fashioned common-sense advice and wait until our current water heater goes on the blink. The estimate of how much it will cost to replace our water heater was very reasonable. When it comes time to replace our current water heater, we'll be using this company. They have helped to save us money. We really appreciate their honesty.
Excellent customer service from the initial contact. The tech that came out was friendly, knowledgeable and patient in explaining all my options with the repairs I needed. I will be happy to use them again in the future and to recommend them for service to my circle of friends and family.
I had to call W. E. Brown for emergency HVAC service on a Sunday morning of a holiday weekend. The dispatcher that I spoke with was very courteous and helpful taking my information. Within 15 minutes I received a call from Travis, a service technician, stating he could be at my house in 10 minutes. Travis arrived promptly, did some troubleshooting of our system, gave me a reasonable quote and completed the work efficiently. He answered all of my questions patiently and left me feeling very confident in his work and what to expect from our system in the future. I would highly recommend W. E. Brown and Travis to anyone with HVAC needs. My husband and I will definitely be calling on them for our future home care needs!
Matt C. And another technician responded timely on a Saturday. They not only found and corrected the problem, they took the effort to explain what had caused the failure.
Matt explained in advance what the charges would be for the services he felt necessary. Both gentlemen were polite and professional, and impressed me as knowledgable on the geothermal heating system.
I was pleased with their service.
I was pleasantly surprised when a service man was at my home to fix my air conditioner on the same day that I called on the hottest day of the year so far. Matt was very polite and knowledgeable about the service. He explained each thing and made sure that I understood. I had several questions and Matt answered each one. He made sure that I was clear about each thing. I will ask for Matt from now on when I need a repair.
We have had WEBrown come replace our HVAC and hot water heater and several faucets in the house. Jerry Kidd and John did an amazing job with the HVAC and so did Dale and Tyler with the plumbing. It's not only the sheer competence and courtesy of these folks but the caring and engagement with what they do and how they serve that I particularly appreciated. Expert service. Excellent interaction. Thank you WEBrown!
Had a plumbing emergency and called a half dozen Charlottesville plumbers. W.E. Brown said they could send their guy out in under 30 minutes. He was there in under 20 minutes. Very friendly dispatch service (Erin), very professional plumbing and workmanship (Dale), extremely good price, and oh...very friendly. I was worried I’d get ripped off. Instead, I feel like I got excellent value for my money. I highly recommend the W.E. Brown Butt-Crack Boys.
We've had the pleasure of working with Dale at W.E. Brown on several projects around the house and have been very satisfied with each outcome. So after gathering several quotes to replace our hot water heater, we were willing to pay more for W.E. Brown knowing: (i) the quality of the products they carry is higher than most competitors (do your research), and (ii) that Dale will do a great job installing the unit. The modestly higher price is worth the peace of mind that a reputable, local firm is standing behind its products and service.
Justin and McKenzie (sorry if that’s spelled wrong Z!) arrived on time and are both very professional. They helped outline all the options pertaining to installing outlets to be able to mount a TV. They not only made sure I made the decision best for me, they educated me on all other options. They were safe and clean and both exemplify true professionalism that is admirable. Excellent value for the money spent. So glad to know of this company and look forward to using them in the future for all electrical and HVAC needs. Thanks so much you guys.
When I called lady was very polite and helpful and the phone. Scheduled me for the next day appt. Husband was home at the arrival of Technician "Matt". He says he was very prompt on his time of arrival , courteous, he did a great job at finding out the problem, explaining it and suggesting options for us to consider price wise and long range options. Most of all we appreciate his honesty.
W.E. Brown fit me into their first call schedule and came to my house next day. Kerry was extremely helpful and walked me through what needed to be done to test why our A/C wasn’t working. When asked for an estimate, he gave me a range and kept me informed about what he was doing so that I wasn’t surprised by the final cost. I highly recommend W.E. Brown for HVAC needs!
Kenny and his assistant Tyler continued the good service that I got from electricians Michael and Jessie last week. I’m having a whole suite of projects tackled after 8 years of livIng in a now-90-year-old bungalow that is due for some TLC. Decided it was time to have my plumbing updated after a week without hot water, and Kenny gave me a thorough, fair, and straightforward estimate. Ripped out all my old galvanized and aging PVC pipes, replaced them with updated PEX, installed new valves on every faucet, put in a new water line to a fridge that I bought last year (I can FINALLY use the ice maker!), and gave me two new outdoor spigots for hoses. They’re also helping address a leaky basement issue, which is above and beyond.
Could not have been friendlier, fairer, or more understanding, and assured me that my going with them for electrical, plumbing, and HVAC would garner some project bundling savings.
This company has been around for almost a century, and it shows. From what I’ve seen, they only employ the very best! Cherry on top is that they’re right here in Charlottesville, so no long waits for driving if you’re a townie.
Excellent service from the call to solving the problem. First visit--Checkup was handled smoothly, fast and thorough. Serviceman was very courteous.
Second visit--One circuit was out and had been previously diagnosed as breaker box problem and had to be replaced. Michael found problem in severed underground live wire and he fixed it. Thank you for quickly solving a serious problem. Elizabeth Coffey
Kenny Geer has been providing plumbing service to me for years through W.E. Brown. He is always exceptionally professional, efficient, friendly and polite. He does great work and makes appropriate recommendations without pushing for unnecessary repairs. I would recommend him to anyone.
I love W.E.Brown. They've been servicing my home for 5 years now, and are thoroughly professional. They're wonderful on the phone, they have all my pertinent info stored in their records, they tell me when someone will be available, and then they show up when then say! We have a complicated heating system and water system, and they're willing to trouble shoot and go the extra mile. About three years ago, I signed up for the service plan, and that has made it even easier. Several of my calls have been on the weekends, and they have come right out to diagnose and fix. Thank you and keep up the great work!
W.E. Brown has provided many years of excellent service for me. The staff makes every effort to ensure the customers are receiving service in a very timely manner. The technicians appear to be very knowledgeable and willing to discuss various solutions to my issues of concern. I have very high expectations; I can’t recall a time when the service didn’t exceed my expectations. I highly recommend W.E. Brown.
Kenny G has helped us on several occasions with our plumbing needs. I appreciate Kenny, he is honest, polite, & someone I trust completly! It's refreshing to have a technician who is as knowledgeable, & experienced as Kenney, who explains your options, doesn't try break your bank account, & takes pride in his work!!!
Matt C. from WE Brown responded this am to my complaint that my humidifier on the HVAC system installed by WE Brown was not operating. Matt quickly diagnosed the problem and provided the rewiring and installation changes necessary to get the unit operating properly. His professional and friendly attitude and quick response are much appreciated.
Sam provided peace of mind about a potentially malfunctioning heat pump. His knowledge and friendly personality reassured us that all was well. We also appreciated that W. E. Brown could send him to us so quickly during what is undoubtedly a busy time of service calls.
W.E.Brown promptly responded and sent Dale to check out a subtle plumbing noise issue. Dale thoroughly investigated the problem to eliminate the possibility of water hammer and other sources. He concluded that the noise (which did not occur when he was here) was likely from pipe movement in the joists or walls and not any serious concern. He was very pleasant to talk to and obviously very knowledgeable. I will call Brown for any future problems!
Quoted nearly double the next lowest price, were extremely sexist and refused to discuss options with my female roommate. In addition, they actively lied about the age of our water heater, and provided extremely poor advice while being unclear about their fee / charging practices. We were charged nearly $100 for 5 minutes of discussion, with absolutely no quality service provided. Would not recommend under any circumstances.
Michael Anders of W.E. Brown is a careful, nice, and is a superb electrician who is pleasant to have around the house. He checks everything with you, but you can leave him alone to do his work. He isn't satisfied just to replace parts, but probes until he finds the source of the problem. Good man, good company.
Fall has finally begun and the heating system couldn't handle it. Called W. E. Brown and they were backed up... I was on the waiting list for the following day and they got to me before lunch. Between the administrative person and Sam (field tech), they were fantastic. Sam diagnosed the problem and was more than willing to teach me as he worked through the diagnosis. At the end of the day, we have heat again... but getting to that point was actually a pleasant experience!
I've been using W. E. Brown since moving into my new-to-me-but-actually-old home in Charlottesville. The new heat pump retrofit, furnace repair, and all general pipes-and-wires work this house needs are handled by W. E. Brown if scheduling permits.
Most recent work was an old gas furnace/wall heater needed repair. Sam Walker knows his stuff! Quick work, effective repair, and prompt follow-up if necessary - all things I can count on with W. E. Brown.
